Product that, due to its composition, is useful to promote physiological rest. Indicated for those who have difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep throughout the night and for those who want to regulate the sleep-wake rhythm. Therefore, it is very useful in regulating circadian rhythms and promoting the body's adaptation (jet lag). The special retard formula guarantees a gradual and complete release of melatonin throughout the night.
Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) is a hormone produced by the epiphysis or pineal gland, which is released at night. The production of the hormone is maximum in early childhood, slows down after age 20 and begins to decrease after age 45, disappearing almost completely in old age.
Its secretion follows a circadian rhythm: it begins at dusk, reaches its peak during the night, decreases to a minimum in the morning and remains very low throughout the day. In dark conditions, when the retinal nerve cells are not stimulated by light, the hypothalamus stimulates the epiphysis to produce Melatonin.
Melatonin reduces free radicals better than other antioxidants. It has double the power of Vitamin E and five times greater than glutathione, as it is soluble in both water and fats (hydro and fat soluble).
